  • If the area being treated hasn’t healed sufficiently between sessions, your clinic may ask you to wait longer until your next session out of concern for your safety.
  • If you experience the same symptoms after each treatment, give yourself an extended period of time in between sessions to help the skin heal fully. Rushing the treatment won’t lead to a faster recovery but may actually leave you looking worse off at the end. Every individual will have a different experience and every tattoo removal is different.
  • The fading of ink post treatment occurs very slowly during the weeks between your treatments. If your tattoo was heavily applied, it might take several treatments before you are able to visually notice significant fading of ink.
  • Every client, every tattoo and even every treatment is completely unique. Sometimes you might experience essentially no noticeable effect on your skin post treatment, this is a normal response. Other times you might experience swelling bruising, blistering, pinpoint bleeding on your skin post treatment: this is also a normal response.
  • After each tattoo removal session wear loose, clean clothing to prevent catching or rubbing on the skin. Avoid fluffy or itchy fabrics for the first 2 days after treatment.
  • Keep the treated area clean with a saline/saltwater solution twice a day and dry completely. Avoid perfumes and soap on area.
  • Do not pick or remove any scabs or crusty skin. Scabbing and blistering are completely normal. If you experience any unusual discomfort or bleeding contact your practitioner.
  • Avoid immersing the tattoo in water (baths, hot tubs, pools etc.)
  • In the days and weeks following treatment your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight than usual, so avoid any sun exposure/sun beds and self-tanning.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Don’t smoke- Smokers immune systems work slower and therefore decrease the speed of the healing process. Non-smokers tend to see better results in fewer sessions.
  • Take a few days off from exercising until the skin has scabbed.
  • Healing time is between 4-8 weeks. Healing times vary from person to person.
  • Swelling is completely normal after a tattoo removal session. You can ice the area intermittently for 10 minutes at a time with 5 minutes in between to help inflammation. Swelling should subside within 3-5 days.
  • Redness of the skin is normal. This symptom can last up to 72 hours.
  • Itchiness is common but not everyone experiences this. If you experience severe itchiness you can take over-the-counter antihistamine to help alleviate some discomfort.
  • Any severe discomfort or concern contact your practitioner.
  • This aftercare is critical to a successful tattoo removal. This is a process and you have to be patient and heal properly between sessions.
  • Immediately after your procedure, we suggest using a post treatment balm to keep the area soothed and use cold packs for any discomfort or swelling.

  • Also avoid using AHA, BHA or Vitamin A products.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before touching studs or ear.
  • Cleanse front and back of the ear 2 times a day without removing studs. Then rotate studs 2 or 3 times. In between cleansing, the ear should be kept dry.
  • Keep hair spray, soap, shampoo and other solutions away from the ear.
  • After shampooing, the ear should be rinsed with clean water and then cleansed with a solution recommended by your piercer.
  • The piercing area should be cleansed then kept dry, especially after bathing, swimming or exercise.
  • Do not remove studs or handle your ears.
  • Ensure the butterfly back of the piercing is positioned at the tip of the piercing post. This ensures the earring remains loose during the healing process, reducing inflammation.
  • Leave the studs in the ears for 6 weeks. (12 weeks for cartilage).
  • After 6 weeks (12 weeks for cartilage), the stud can be removed, and other earrings can be worn.
  • Use only post-style earrings continuously for the first 6 months from piercing.
  • The post should be surgical stainless steel or other hypo-allergenic material.
  • Minor pain or redness may occur immediately, this is normal and will settle within 48 hours provided proper after-care is carried out. If undue pain/swelling/redness occurs at any time, seek medical advice before removing the ear-piercing stud and tell your therapist.
